Rapelang Rabana is a computer scientist, entrepreneur, and speaker who founded the learning technology company Rekindle Learning in 2013. The company, which Rabana serves as chair, works to make education technology available to organisations and schools across the country to support learning on all levels. She also co-founded Yeigo Communications, South Africa’s first free VoIP mobile services provider. When Telfree, a South African next-generation operator, bought a majority stake in Yeigo, Rabana led Telfree’s Research and Development department until she left in 2012, founding Rekindle in 2014.
Publicly, Rabana was featured on the cover of Forbes Africa before age 30 in 2013, selected as a FastCompany Maverick, was on Oprah Magazine’s O Power List in 2012, named Entrepreneur for the World by the World Entrepreneurship Forum and selected as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum. Rabana was invited the World Economic Forum 2012 Annual Meeting in Davos and was selected as a Global Shaper, later a Young Global Leader, by the World Economic Forum. She is an Ambassador and Juror for the United Nations World Summit Awards and gave the keynote address at Gartner Symposium 2015 in Cape Town.
