Marie Thérèse Colimon-Hall was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti in 1918. She wrote three plays, including Le Chant du musician (The Song of the Musician) (1949) the novel Fils de misère (Son of Poverty) (1974), winner of the France-Haiti Literary Prize; and the collection of short stories Le Chant des Sirènes (The Song of the Siren) (1979). She also wrote numerous collections of poetry and essays. Though her first book for adults was published when she was in her fifties, she is considered one of Haiti’s most prominent female authors. Colimon-Hall served as member and chair of the Henri Deschamps Literary Prize from its creation in 1975, until her death in 1997.

Escribió también numerosos ensayos y libros de poesía. Aunque su primer libro fue publicado cuando tenía cincuenta años, es considerada una de las autoras más destacadas de Haití. Colimon-Hall fue miembra y directora del Premio Literario Henri Deschamps desde su fundación en 1975, hasta su muerte en 1997.
