María Roselia Jiménez Pérez comes from the Maya Tojolab’al Community of Comitan de Dominguez in Chiapas. She has produced several children’s books in Tojolab’al and has composed several pieces of vocal music in her language as well. Her songs are included in a compilation of Mexican Indigenous women writers, and she also has her own CDs. She currently serves as an elected leader and member of Congress from Comitan de Domiguez. She is a founding member of ELIAC, Escritores en Lenguas Indígenas, a national association for Mexican Indigenous writers.
