María Dueñas, a writer and doctor in English Philology, was born in Puertollano, Ciudad Real, Spain in 1964. Her first novel, The Time in Between, published in 2009, became a worldwide publishing success and is the one that first brings her fame. It is followed by four novels The Heart Has Its Reasons (2012), The Vineyard (2015) and The Captain ‘s Daughters (2018), which were positively received by readers and critics. Her latest novel, titled Sira (2021), continues her line of historical novel work.
