Madeline Clara Lassuy was born in Racine, Wisconsin, on 28 January 1914. She received nurses’ training at Saint Anthony’s Hospital in Rock Island, Illinois, becoming a Registered Nurse in 1934. After 2 1/2 years of civilian nursing, she became a Navy Nurse in February 1937 and was first stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Training Station Hospital, Great Lakes, Illinois. In 1939, she was transferred to San Diego Naval Hospital. Nurse Lassuy resigned from the Navy in the Summer of 1940 to marry Lieutenant (Junior Grade) Edwin Carlton Finney, USN. Madeline Clara Lassuy Finney died in Pagosa Springs, Colorado on 22 April 2006. She is buried at Saint Mary’s Cemetary, East Moline, Illinois.
