Mabel Osgood Wright, a popular American nature writer and novelist, born in New York City. In 1884 she was married to J.O. Wright, and made her home in Fairfield, Conn., where in the large garden at her home, she found much of the material to which she gave attractive literary expression.
Mrs. Wright became president of the Audubon Society of Connecticut on its organization in 1898. Her many books include: The Friendship of Nature, Birdcraft, Four-footed Americans, Flowers and Ferns in their Haunts, The Garden of a Commuter’s Wife, The Open Window, and Poppea of the Post Office.
