American actress. She was the wife of John Drew, and after his death in 1862 she managed the Arch Street Theatre, Philadelphia, for many years, during which she distinguished herself as one of the actresses of the country. Her most famous and delightful impersonation was that of Mrs. Malaprop in Sheridan’s “The Rivals,” and as late as 1895 she assumed that character in some special performances with Joseph Jefferson. Her sons, John and Sidney, and her daughter, Georgie Drew (Barrymore) all became successful actors.
