Juliana Morell, a Dominican nun and a remarkable child prodigy in the arts and sciences, was born in 1594 in Barcelona. She was known for her proficiency in Latin, Greek, and Hebrew from a very young age. At twelve, she defended her doctoral theses in ethics and dialectics summa cum laude.
Morell became a nun in 1609 and was thrice named prioress. She also authored several religious works, including translations and spiritual exercises, before she died in Avignon in 1653.
