Jean R. Phillips (July 1897-June 1986) was a securities analyst at the Treasury Department and an organist in Washington, D.C., during the 1920s-1960s. She was an active member of the local and national chapters of the American Guild of Organists. Phillips studied with Edgar Priest (1878-1935), who was the first music director at the Washington National Cathedral. After his death, she was appointed acting organist and choral director at the Cathedral. Phillips also worked at other local churches as well as taught at Georgetown Preparatory School.
