Let us pause our biography of Alison Falconer at this point and say a little about her two sisters. Jacqueline Stewart Falconer, the eldest of the three sisters, studied physiology at University College, London. Awarded a B.Sc. she was appointed as a Demonstrator in Physiology in the Department of Physiology, Biochemistry and Pharmacology of King’s College London in 1941. In 1944 she was appointed as a lecturer in the Physiology Department, Medical School, University of Newcastle. She remained in that Department for the rest of her career and died on 27 February 2010 at the age of 91.
