American singer Izora Armstead was recognisable by her distinctive alto voice. She performed with Martha Wash as the duo Two Tons O’ Fun, singing backup for thw American disco singer Sylvester before getting their own record deal in 1979. The pair were renamed The Weather Girls in 1982 following the release of their most successful single, It’s Raining Men. The duo parted ways in 1988, after which Armstead released the 1991 single Don’t Let Love Slip Away. That same year, she reformed The Weather Girls with her daughter Dynelle Rhodes, who had performed as one of Armstead and Wash’s backup singers. Together, they released three albums: Double Tons of Fun (1993), Think Big! (1995), and Puttin’ On The Hits (1999).
