Harriet Forten Purvis was an abolitionist and suffragist who founded the Philadelphia Female Anti-Slavery Society with her mother, sisters, and Lucretia Mott, among others in 1833. She was a member of the American Equal Rights Association and then the National Woman Suffrage Association.
