Grace Hoadley Dodge, an American philanthropist, and leader in religious and educational work. She was born in New York City, and was the daughter of William E. Dodge, the merchant.
Having at her command part of her father’s large fortune, she devoted herself to increasing opportunities for self-supporting girls and young women. She built a chain of hotels for working girls, and through her personal influence and quiet but notable generosity accomplished the unification and success of the Young Women’s Christian Association of the United States.
Miss Dodge was elected president of the national board of Y.M.C.A. and in 1912 gave $350,000 for association buildings in New York City. She died in 1914.
