Ella Flagg Young, an American educator, born in Buffalo. After a long career as a teacher she became professor of education at the University of Chicago, and was superintendent of schools of Chicago from 1909 until her resignation in 1915.
Mrs. Young was the first woman president of the National Education Association, and also identified herself prominently with the woman’s suffrage movement. As an educator she occupies a notable position among American women.
