Clara Boscaglia was a Sammarinese politician who played a pioneering role in the political landscape of San Marino.
In 1957, Boscaglia emerged as one of the founding members of the Democratic Confederation of Sammarinese Workers. Throughout the 1960s, she actively participated in Sammarinese politics, holding notable positions such as Chief of Staff to the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
Her significant political journey reached a milestone in 1974 when she was elected under the Christian Democratic Party in the Sammarinese legislative elections. This marked her as one of the first women in the history of San Marino to enter the Grand General Council.
After her historic election, Boscaglia assumed various ministerial roles, becoming the first woman to serve in the Sammarinese government.
Clara Boscaglia succumbed to lung cancer on 22 July 1990. Her passing led to a national day of mourning declared on July 24, with public services suspended, and flags flown at half-mast, reflecting the deep respect and significance of her contributions to the political landscape of San Marino.
