Blanca Wiethüchter was born in La Paz, Bolivia in 1947. She is the author of fifteen collections of poetry, including Asistir al tiempo (Assisting Time) (1975) and La Piedra que labra otra piedra (The Stone that Plows another Stone) (1999). She has also written essays, short stories, and one novel—El jardín de Nora (Nora’s Garden) (1998). Wiethüchter is considered one of Bolivia’s most comprehensive contemporary poets, having published continuously since 1975. She was a professor at the Major University of San Andrés and organized the creative writing program at the Bolivian Catholic University. She died in 2004 in Cochabamba.

Escribió también ensayos, cuentos, y una novela titulada El jardín de Nora (1998). La obra de Wiethüchter la posiciona entre los poetas Bolivianos contemporáneos más prolíficos del país. Fue profesora en la Universidad Mayor de San Andrés y organizó el programa de escritura de la Universidad Católica Boliviana. Murió en 2004 en Cochabamba.
