Alice Lamb: now Mrs. Milton Updegraff was assistant astronomer in the Washburn Observatory from June 1885 to September 1887. Here she had charge of the extensive time service of the Observatory, and also took part in the regular series of observatories with the Repsold meridian circle. She made many observations of the minor planets and double stars with the 15.5 inch equatorial telescope. In September 1887 she married Professor Updegraff and went with him to the Argentine Republic where they both served as astronomers in the National Observatory from November 1887 to March 1890. She had charge of the time service there. Since returning to the United States she has retained her interest in astronomy and is now preparing for publication a translation of Ruhlmann’s “Barometrische Hohemessengen.”
