At night, this vampiric creature detaches its head and organs from its body to hunt humans, appearing as a disembodied head with a long, invisible tongue and exposed, tentacle-like entrails. Stories of the penanggalan have appeared throughout Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines. She goes by various names, with conflicting stories, but her unending hunger remains the same.
