Yellowstone National Park Park Ranger, 1924-1925

• Born August 16, 1893 in Des Moines, Iowa.
• Earned a master of arts degree.
• Began working as a teacher in 1920.
• Her brother, Dr. Frank Thone, worked as a naturalist in Yellowstone for two years, which is likely how she got to know the park.
• Her sketches illustrate her brother’s 1923 book “Trees and Flowers of Yellowstone National Park.”
• Appointed a park ranger at Yellowstone on July 1, 1924.
• Earned $100 per month as a park ranger.
• Resigned from the NPS on March 31, 1925 for unknown reasons.
• Returned to Des Moines, Iowa and had a 36-year career as a teacher in public schools.
• Never married or had children.
• Died on February 15, 1974 of pneumonia.
• Buried in St. Ambrose Cemetery, Des Moines, Iowa.
