While residing at the Three Cranes Tavern from 1757 to 1775, Zipporah an enslaved Indigenous woman, would have cooked, cleaned and served the patrons at the Tavern. While the tavern was destructed The battle of Bunker Hill in 1775, the site remains accessible in Charlestown City Square. Zipporah worked enslaved alongside her husband, Caesar, working arduous hours with no pay. Indigenous women with dark skin tones faced similar experiences, working as domestics and serving Boston residents, often without recognition for their service.
