[Nilda] Tununa Mercado es una investigadora y escritora argentina. Estudió la carrera de Letras en la Universidad Nacional de Córdoba unc. Obtuvo una Mención en el Premio Casa de las Américas, de La Habana (Cuba) por un libro de cuentos que publicaría más tarde en 1967. Trabajó como periodista en el diario La Opinión. En 1974, viajó a México junto con su esposo, Noé Jitrik, para dar clases durante seis meses pero, debido a la dictadura, no pudieron regresar hasta 1983. Durante esos años fue editora en la revista Fem. Además, trabajó en la prensa de la Dirección de Artes Plásticas del Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes inba. En 1987, regresó definitivamente a Buenos Aires.
A lo largo de su carrera ha sido distinguida con una Beca Guggenheim y diversos galardones. En 2007, ganó el Premio Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz.
[Nilda] Tununa Mercado is an Argentine researcher and writer. She studied Literature at the National University of Córdoba (UNC). She received a Mention at the Casa de las Américas Prize in Havana, Cuba, for a book of short stories that she published later in 1967. She worked as a journalist for the newspaper La Opinión (UNC). In 1974, she traveled to Mexico with her husband, Noé Jitrik, to teach for six months, but due to the dictatorship, they were not able to return until 1983. During those years, she was an editor at the magazine Fem. In addition, she worked at the press office of the Plastic Arts Department of the National Institute of Fine Arts (INBA). In 1987, she returned permanently to Buenos Aires.
Throughout her career she has been awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship and various prizes. In 2007, she won the Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz Prize.
